QUESTION

How can we make the compiler use the 8 Data Pointers found on the Siemens 515C?

ANSWER

Use the compiler MOD517(NOAU) directive. The following functions will make use of the extra data pointers:

  • memcpy
  • memmove
  • memcmp
  • strcpy
  • strcmp

The directive may be specified in µVision using the following steps:

  1. Choose C51 Compiler from the Options menu
  2. Click on the Chip tab
  3. From the drop-down list choose '8: Siemens (MOD517)' Make sure the option to use the 80C517 Arithmetic Processor is unchecked.

MORE INFORMATION

  • Refer to MOD517 in the Cx51 User's Guide.
