RTX51: USING CODE BANKING

QUESTION

I have a Dallas 80C320 application using RTX51 and I am about to implement code banking as we are completely out of code space. Your code banking examples in the "8051 Utilities" manual are quite well done, however, no mention is ever made in the examples of applications using RTX51 as well.

I understand code banking, but I am unsure how to go about this using RTX51.

ANSWER

The steps required to use code banking with an RTX51 application are found in the RTX51 User's Guide.

• Make a copy of the L51_BANK.A51 file, add it to your project then customize it as required. This is described in the BL51 manual. Ensure that the ?B_RTX symbol is set to 1.
• In the RTXSETUP.DCL file, set the ?RTX_BANKSWITCHING symbol to 1. This may also be set using the RTXSETUP application.
• Link your project as described in the BL51 manual. All banks can be used without a problem by the tasks.
