BL51: WARNING 14 (INCOMPATIBLE MEMORY MODEL)

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 5.50

QUESTION

When I attempt to link my project the linker responds with the following diagnostic:

WARNING L14: INCOMPATIBLE MEMORY MODEL
MODULE: filename (modulename)
MODEL: memory model

ANSWER

The specified module is not compiled in the same memory model as the former compiled modules. The memory model of the improper module is showed by MODEL. If you need to have the memory model different use the compiler keyword [large, compact, small] for the specific function declaration as needed. All of the modules must be the same memory models but individual functions can have different memory models.
