GENERAL: HEX CODE WITHOUT ADDRESSES

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 All Versions
  • C166 All Versions
  • C251 All Versions
  • CARM All Versions

QUESTION

The Keil HEX converter creates Intel HEX, but I need a listing of HEX code without the addresses, just sequential code. Do you have a utility that can do that, or do I have to write one?

ANSWER

It depends what format this file should have.

  • You can create a binary file to merge the data with other files. See the knowledgebase article 'GENERAL: MAKING BINARY FILES FROM HEX FILES' below.
  • You can include a HEX or BIN file as 'const data' into C-Source code. See the second example in the knowledgebase article 'ARM: Include a binary image into an application' or knowledgebase article 'GENERAL: CREATING C FILES FROM BINARY OR HEX DATA' below.
