RTX51: REPLACING SINGLE CAN MESSAGE OBJECTS

QUESTION

I am using a Siemens C505CA with RTX51. One feature that I would really like to see added to the RTX51 CAN support is the ability to replace one message object with a new one without having to reset them all.

Is there any plan for supporting such a feature? If not, is there some kind of work-around that I may be able to use?

ANSWER

The 167 CAN controllers such as the 167C, allow single objects to be deleted and defined.

Unfortunately, the 505C CAN controller does not allow this, and objects can only be defined when the controller is in the reset state. Because this is a limitation in the silicon there is unfortunately no workaround for this and it is not possible to add this functionality.
