BL51: WARNING 7 (MODULE NAME NOT UNIQUE)

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 5.50

SYMPTOMS

When I build my project, I get the following warning from the linker:

WARNING L7: MODULE NAME NOT UNIQUE
MODULE: C:\TEST\ISR.OBJ (ISR)

How do I resolve this?

CAUSE

This is commonly caused by more than one source file generating the ISR.OBJ file. For example, if you have ISR.C and ISR.A51 in your project, they will both compile/assemble to produce ISR.OBJ. The linker requires an object file for each source file, so it generates the warning.

RESOLUTION

Rename your source files so the name before the extension (in this case 'ISR') is unique for each source file. Remove and re-add the source files to your project.
