µVISION1: FILES OPEN IN READ-ONLY MODE

QUESTION

Some of the files I open with µVision can't be edited. µVision seems to open them in read-only mode even though that attribute is not set for that file. Many of the files I edit work fine and can be changed. What is going on with the other files?

ANSWER

It sounds like you are using the evaluation version of the tools. One of the limitations is that files larger than 16K are opened in read-only mode. Make sure to look at the release notes text file that is included with your installation of the tools. This file lists all limitations of the evaluation kit.
