ARM: Detection of Compiler version in use

  • MDK-ARM all versions
  • C51, all versions


I need to compile and debug an older project with the identical toolchain like before to get the same binary. Is it possible to get this information from the project files?


It is possible to detect the Compiler version in use. There are these solutions:


  • Edit an object-file:

  • Use fromelf and the option --text at a command window with an object-file:

B: C51

  • Edit a lst-file to see the Compiler version in use:

  • Edit a m51-file to see the Linker version in use:


  • Refer to --text in the fromelf User Guide.
