CMSIS: How to update CMSIS-DSP libraries

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • MDK-ARM Version 5.14 and higher

I am using common signal processing functions for use on Cortex-M processor based devices. These functions are supported with CMSIS-DSP software libraries.

With i.e. a new version of the ARM- or GNU-Compiler released, I like to update these libraries.

Can I update the current CMSIS-DSP libraries?

Yes. There are corresponding batch-files prepared, located at:

C:\Keil\ARM\Pack\ARM\CMSIS\4.3.0\CMSIS\DSP_Lib\Source\ARM(or GCC)

Selecting arm_cortexM_math_Build.bat gets the requested libraries created for all supported Cortex-M processors at:

C:\Keil\ARM\Pack\ARM\CMSIS\4.3.0\CMSIS\Lib\ARM(or GCC)

In case of an error refer to the log-files and CMSIS: error at creating CMSIS-DSP libraries

Next open µVision.

At Project - Manage - Project Items - Folder/Extensions it is necessary to configure your Compiler selection. As an example refer to the GNU C Compiler Support.
