µVISION DEBUGGER: Eclipse plug-in
Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:
I am using Eclipse for my software development but would like to get the features of the MDK µVision debugger. In MDK-ARM Version 4 an Eclipse plug-in was available. But this plug-in is discontinued with MDK-ARM Version 5.
Can I use MDK Version 5 as debugger for Eclipse projects?
I know that this plug-in is supported with MDK-ARM Version 4, but is Eclipse also supported with MDK-ARM Version 5?
The MDK-ARM Plug-in for Eclipse works with MDK-ARM version 4 projects only. It was created to support Infineon DAVE for the XMC1000 and XMC4000 device series.
This plug-in is not included with modern versions of the MDK-ARM installer.
You can use this Eclipse-plugin with MDK-ARM version 5, but ONLY with:
Note: Because the Legacy Support executable copies the files needed into the Keil installation directory - so that µVision 4 projects can build - projects cannot use both RTE and the MDK-ARM Plug-in for Eclipse at the same time.
Use the CMSIS Pack Eclipse Plugin:
Install the CMSIS-Pack Management plugin for Eclipse on the ARM Software Github page. MDK Version 5 uses the Run Time Environment and Software Packs. The CMSIS-Pack Management plugin allows users to create modern a MDK-ARM version 5 projects (that use Software Packs) in the latest versions of Eclipse.
DS-MDK supports Software Packs (NXP MCIMX6SX-SDB, NXP MCIMX7SABRE and Phytec phyBOARD-i.MX7-Zeta) using Eclipse.
