ULINK: Connecting ULINK2/ULINK-ME to NGX Xplorer boards

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • ULINK-ME 10-pin to 10-pin cable

I want to use ULINK-ME (or ULINK2) to debug my NGX LPC1830-Xplorer or LPC4330-Xplorer board, but the 10-pin connector on the cable connecting my ULINK to the Xplorer board has a plastic plug inserted at pin 7, so it won't fit the board's JTAG connector. How can I use this cable?

The connectors on the 10-pin to 10-pin ribbon cable have plastic plugs installed at pin 7. Remove the plug using a needle or the point of an XACTO knife before you connect it to the explorer board by following the instructions below:

  1. Position the point of a needle (or XACTO knife) under the exposed end of the plug.
  2. With the point of the needle touching the side of the plug, tip the needle (or XACTO knife) down. This should move the plug up and out of the connector slightly.
  3. Repeat this 3 or 4 times until the plug is out.
