ULINK: SWD COMMUNICATION FAILURE ON STELLARIS BOARD

QUESTION

When I try to connect to the TI/Stellaris LM3S6965 board using ULINK2 (Project — Options for Target, Debug tab, Settings), I get the following error:

SWD Communication Failure

I can connect to the board using the Stellaris ICDI driver. What could be wrong with ULINK2?

ANSWER

Nothing is wrong with ULINK2. Some Stellaris boards do not provide VCC power to the 20-pin JTAG connector. To accommodate this board, remove the cover of your ULINK2 adapter and move the VCC jumper to the 3,3V position to power JTAG from the PC.

ULINK2 should now connect to the TI/Stellaris board.
