Technical SupportMON51: PROBLEMS WITH DUAL DATA POINTERS AND SERIAL BREAKInformation in this article applies to:
QUESTIONI'm using C51 V5.5 and I'm having problems with the monitor for the Dallas 320/520 chips. Specifically, I build the monitor and burn an EPROM for my target hardware. When I set breakpoints and watch variables and registers and single-step, everything works OK. However, when I click RUN and athen click STOP, the program counter points to a strange address. Did I do something wrong with the installation? ANSWERThere was a problem with early versions of the C51 V5.5 release of the MON51 monitor. The routines that saved the dual data pointer did not work properly when using the serial break feature. This has been corrected in the latest release of V5.5 which is currently shipping.
