ULINK: SUBKEY ERROR INSTALLING ULINKPRO

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • ULINKpro Installation

SYMPTOM

When installing a ULINKpro adapter under WindowsXP, the installer displays the following message:

Cannot Install Hardware Message

This only seems to happen on 1 particular PC. How can I correct this?

CAUSE

This error can happen when installing a ULINKpro adapter on a PC whose Windows user session does not terminate properly during log off. Some system processes may still maintain registry key links, causing this installation error.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, perform the following steps:

  1. Download and install the UPHClean utility from Microsoft.
  2. From Windows Device Manager (right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button), under Universal Serial Bus controllers, locate and uninstall the Keil ULINK Pro device.
  3. Disconnect the ULINKpro adapter from the PC.
  4. Restart the PC, and log in as usual.
  5. Reconnect the ULINKpro adapter to a USB port on your PC and allow Windows to discover and install the ULINKpro drivers normally.

The installation should complete without errors. If you continue to have installation problems, please contact Keil Technical Support.
