µVISION DEBUGGER: CAN'T FIND SIC8051F.DLL AFTER INSTALLING UPGRADE

Information in this article applies to:

• µVision3 IDE Version 3.51 and later

PROBLEM

After installing the latest version of µVision, when I try to download or debug my Silabs board, I get:

Error: Can't load driver 'C:\Keil\C51\BIN\SiC8051F.dll'!

This worked OK before I upgraded. What happened? How do I correct it?

CAUSE

There are 2 possible causes for this error:

• The debugger can't find the Silabs driver. This is because when you installed the new version, in the Folder Selection dialog, the option to create a backup tool folder was checked. This option renames your old folder and creates a new one. The Silabs driver is now in the backup folder.
• There is no USBHID.DLL file in the C:\KEIL\UV3\ folder.

SOLUTION

Re-install the Silabs driver. The latest drivers are available from Silabs at:
