ARMCC: EVAL VERSION "NEEDS TO CLOSE"
Information in this article applies to:
- MDK-ARM V3.05 and Earlier
SYMPTOM
The evaluation version of the MDK-ARM tools displays the following message when starting µVision, or compiling a program module:
The ARM (t)c/c++ Compiler has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This did not happen prior to July 2007.
CAUSE
V3.05 and earlier versions of the MDK-ARM evaluation tools perform a date calculation which fails starting in July 2007. It is this failure that causes the above error message to display.
Note
- This error occurs only when using the MDK-ARM Evaluation version. Licensed MDK-ARM tools are not affected.
RESOLUTION
Download and install the latest version (V3.11) of the MDK-ARM Evaluation kit to correct this.
STATUS
This is corrected in MDK-ARM V3.10 and later versions.
