MCBSTR9: COM1 (UART0) DOES NOT WORK

Information in this article applies to:

  • MCBSTR9 Evaluation Boards Version 2

QUESTION

My STR912 application uses UART0 (COM1) to communicate with my PC. However, I cannot communicate over this interface. Are there any known problems with this RS232 port?

ANSWER

Unfortunately, there is a mistake in the layout of board version 2. The pins P3.7 and P3.8 are connected to the RS232 driver instead of P3.0 and P3.1. As a workaround, please use COM2 (UART1) for the communication. The schematics of MCBSTR9 version 2 are attached to this article.

This problem is fixed in board version 3 and higher.
