ULINK: CODE LOAD VERY SLOW

QUESTION

When I load code via ULINK (without Flash programming), the load takes an extremely long time, in my case about 5 minutes for a 300K file.

What can be wrong here?

ANSWER

ULINK performs the following when you start the debug session:

• When Verify Application in ROM or Verify Code Download is selected, the complete ROM content is read back from the target system and compared against the application in the µVision project. This takes some time but ensures that the application matches the ROM content.
• When Download Application into RAM or Download to Flash is selected, the application is downloaded.

Therefore, to speed up application download, you should disable both options. However, at the same time, you should also enable all Cache Options so that ULINK remembers the memory content that has been already read.
