MCB2103: ULINK - CANNOT STOP ARM DEVICE!

QUESTION

I am trying to download a program to the LPC2103 device on the MCB2103 Board. However, I receive the following error message:

Error
Couldn't stop ARM device!
Please check the JTAG cable.

What is the reason for this problem?

ANSWER

An LPC2101, LPC2102, or LPC2103 device may have problems with high JTAG speeds. Try reducing the JTAG clock on the device to 100KHz. Select this in µVision under Project — Options for Target — Debug — ULINK ARM Debugger Settings — Max JTAG Clock.
