ISD51: ERROR - MISSING DEVICE

QUESTION

I have purchased PK51 Version 8 and I am starting to use the ISD51 In-System Debugger. However ISD51 outputs an message box with the following text:

ISD51 ERROR
MISSING DEVICE

How can I get rid of this error?

ANSWER

There is a problem with the copy protection of ISD51 in Version 8.00 - Version 8.02. The problem does not exist when you upgrade a computer, but will exist when you install the software on a new computer using the new LIC licensing system. As a solution download the attachment from this knowledgebase article and copy the ISD51.DLL into the folder C:\Keil\C51\BIN.
