MCB2140: LPC2148 DEVICE RETURNS LPC2138 DEVICE ID

QUESTION
How can I differentiate between an LPC2138 device and an LPC2148 device?
When I access the LPC2148 via ISP command Read Part Identification, it reports the same number as a LPC2138 device.
ANSWER
In early versions of the LPC2148 device there was a problem which reported the wrong device ID code. If this is a critical error, you must replace the LPC2148 device with a newer device stepping.
