µVISION: SLOW MENU AND WINDOW UPDATE

SYMPTOM

The new µVision3 version is quite slow to move the cursor around and open the menus on my PC with Pentium 4 2.0GHz under Windows XP. Is there a way to change that?

CAUSE

µVision3 is designed to use the extended styles of Windows XP. However, some of the Microsoft features slow down window and menu update under Windows XP. The slow-down depends highly on the graphic adapter that is used in your computer. This is an effect of the operating system and the graphics hardware in your computer.

RESOLUTION

Turn off display effects under Display Properties - Appearance - Effects as described below:

• Right Click on the Desktop and open the Properties dialog.
• Open the dialog page Display Properties - Appearance - Effects.
• Disable the options:
  • Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips.
  • Show shadows under menus.
