CARM: ARE ARM7 32/64-BIT MAC INSTRUCTIONS SUPPORTED?

QUESTION

The ARM7TDMI instruction set includes four instructions which perform 32-bit by 32-bit multiplication with 64-bit result and 32-bit by 32-bit multiplication-accumulation (MAC) with 64-bit result. Does the Keil ARM compiler use these instructions?

ANSWER

No, this is not supported by the Keil ARM compiler. Use the RealView Compiler.

In the Project — Components, Environment and Books — Select ARM Development Tools dialog, select Use RealView Compiler.
