µVISION: MISPLACED FCODE SECTIONS WHEN USING XLARGE MODEL

QUESTION

When I try to use the new XLARGE memory model I cannot program my application into flash or the application does not work as expected. When I looked into the *.M66 map file, I saw that some FCODE sections are located into on-chip RAM and SFR area. How can I avoid this?

ANSWER

µVision version 3.02 which comes with C166 version 5.01 does not generate FCODE class definitions for the L166 linker. The linker then locates FCODE sections into unused memory areas which might be RAM.

This problem is solved in µVision version 3.04 which comes with C166 version 5.03 or higher. Download and install C166 version 5.03 or later. You may download the latest updates from the Keil Website.
