µVISION DEBUGGER: NO I2C DIALOG IN SIMULATOR

Information in this article applies to:

  • µVision Version 2.34
  • µVision Version 3.00

QUESTION

Application Note 153 says that software simulation of an I2C Bus Master can be implemented on any 8051 or 166 device by using two unused output pins. When I start the debug simulator with a P89C51RC2xx device, I cannot find the I2C simulation dialogs. Why?

ANSWER

The I2C dialogs are not simulated in the debugger because the P89C51RC2xx does not support I2C.

The software simulation referred to in Application Note 153 must be implemented by the user. The debugger only simulates peripherals supported by the target device.

To find out what peripherals are supported for a device, look up the device on the List of Supported Chips web page and view the Simulated Peripherals section.
