ISD51: INFINEON C868 EXAMPLE DOES NOT CONNECT

Information in this article applies to:

  • ISD51 Version 2.00
  • C51 Compiler Version 7

SYMPTOM

The µVision Debugger reports a connection error when I try to use the ISD51 example in the folder Keil\C51\ISD51\Examples\Infineon_C868 for the Infineon C868 on a MiniC868 board. The program build does not report errors and I can successfully download using C868 Commandline utility. I tried unplugging the Boot-Jumper, but I still get a connection error when I start a debug session.

CAUSE

The current ISD51 version controls the DTR and RTS lines. Different pulses can be applied on the debugger start. Unfortunately the example in the folder Keil\C51\ISD51\Examples\Infineon_C868 did not get updated and the current setting puts the Infineon MiniC868 Board into the wrong state.

RESOLUTION

The configuration of the DTR line can be modified under Project - Options for Target - Debug - ISD51 Driver Settings. In the ISD51 Driver Settings dialog configured DTR: "Reset pulse: 500ms high, 10ms low". This should enable the connection when the debug session is started.
