GENERAL: PROGRAMMING FLASH ON MCB21XX BOARDS

QUESTION

How do I download a hex file to the MCB2100 evaluation board?

ANSWER

Follow the instructions in the appropriate MCB21xx Board Manual. Pay careful attention to the 'Using the LPC2000 Flash Utility' section.

You also need the latest version of the LPC2100 Flash ISP Utility available for download from Philips.

Make sure that the settings in the LPC2100 Flash ISP Utility match those shown in the board manual. There was an error in the illustration. The XTAL Freq (in kHz) should be 12000, not 60.

If you are still having problems connecting to the board after following the instructions in the manual, here are some more things to try:

• In the Flash Utility, make sure the XTAL Freq (in kHz) is set to 12000, for this is the frequency of crystal on the board.
• Make sure the serial cable is connected to COM0 on the MCB2100 Evaluation board
• Make sure Jumper 7 on the MCB2100 board is closed during Flash programming, and open during execution
• After setting Jumper 7, make sure to recycle the power on the MCB2100 board to enter programming mode
