µVISION DEBUGGER: LOAD EXISTING PROJECTS

QUESTION

I have an existing project along with an absolute object file. This project was created with µVision1 and debugged with dScope.

I would like to test this now with the updated µVision, but I do not want to generate a complete project for it. Is there a fast way to load the already built project into the µVision Debugger and what are the steps to do this?

ANSWER

Yes, there is a simple way. Just perform the steps described below.

1. Create a new folder and copy the file that you want to load to this folder.
2. Start µVision and use Project -> New Project... to create a new project file in the folder. As guideline, you should use the base name of the absolute object or HEX file as project file name (i.e. TEST.UV2).
3. Select the device that you are using from the Device Database.
4. Open the dialog Project -> Options for Target -> Output and enter the filename under Name of Executeable that you want to load. You can even use the name of an Intel HEX file here. By default, µVsion already enters the project name without extension.

Now start debugging with Debug -> Start/Stop Debug Session.
