GENERAL: SLOW DOWNLOAD AND DEBUGGING PROCESS USING CYGNAL UC

QUESTION

I'm using Cygnal C8051F020 and Keil Debugger to debug my application. The whole process is pretty slow (download phase, execution, step-by-step, and so on). Sometimes the Debugger freezes and crashes. I'm using Keil C51 V7.01 and Cygnal DLL V1.2.4.

Is there anything that might be done to speed things up?

ANSWER

Yes. The process is slow because the Cygnal DLL V1.2.4 has no Code Memory Cache.

The Code Memory Cache was added in Cygnal DLL V1.2.5 which you may download from the Cygnal's website.

After downloading and installing V1.2.5, enable the Cache in µVision under Options for Target - Debug - Settings for the Cygnal Driver - Cache Code Memory.
