µVISION DEBUGGER: USING SERIAL INTERFACE DURING MONITOR DEBU

Information in this article applies to:

  • µVision Version 2.10 or higher

QUESTION

I am working on a project using the Keil monitor with my hardware. While debugging, I must enter data via the serial interface. However, it is already used for the monitor. Is it possible to share the serial port with the monitor?

ANSWER

Yes, this is possible. However, you must disable the option Stop Program Execution with Serial Interrupt under Project - Options for Target - Debug - Monitor Settings. Once you do this you may use the serial interface for ASCII communication. A good sample program where this is used is the measure example that is part of the C51, C251, and C166 compiler packages.
