C51: COMPILER DIRECTIVE FOR OMF-51 EXTENDED FORMAT

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 6.23 and later
  • MCBx51 Evaluation Board

QUESTION

I'm using the latest version of Philips PDS51 (Version 3.39) Emulator along with the Keil compiler C51 V6.23a and need debug access to typed variables like int, long, float and struct. The PDS51 manual says that it supports the OMF-51 extended format. How do I get the C51 compiler to output the OMF-51 extended output?

ANSWER

The current version of the Philips PDS51 emulator software fully supports the extended OMF-51 format which provides full access to typed variables like int, long, float, and struct. The Keil C51 compiler directive OBJECTEXTEND option produces the extended OMF-51 file.

Use the #pragma oe db Directive.
