Does µVision support PL/M-51 source files? I am able to add my .PLM files to the project but they don't appear to get built.

PL/M-51 support is not yet fully integrated into µVision. If your PLM files have the extension .PLM, you must change them to something else (like .P51) for the following suggestion to work.

Adding PLM files to your project requires that you:

  • Add the source files to the project,
  • Set the compiler options for each file,
  • Add the OBJ files to the project,
  • and add PLM51.LIB to the project.
To add PL/M-51 source files to your project:
  • Create a new file group for the PLM file(s).
  • Add the PLM file(s) to the project. Remember that the file extension may not be PLM.
  • When prompted for the file type, select Custom File.
  • Continue adding the remaining PLM files to your project.
To set the PL/M-51 compiler options:
  • Right-click on a source file and select Options for File.
  • In the Options dialog, enter c:\keil\c51\bin\plm51 filename.p51 debug print where filename.p51 is the name of your source file.
  • Repeat this for each PLM source file in your project.
To add the PLM Object files to your project:
  • Open the Add Files to Project dialog.
  • Select each PLM object file (or just type the name) and add it to the project. µVision handles all the details for adding an OBJ file to the project.
To add the PLM51LIB file to your project:

PL/M-51 comes with a run-time library which is required. This library is named PLM51.LIB. It must be added to your PLM projects.

  • Refer to µVision Getting Started Chapter 4, Tips and Tricks, Using PL/M51. An electronic copy of this manual is located on the books tab inside µVision.
