µVISION DEBUGGER: PROBLEMS WITH CODE BANKING AND SECONDS DIS

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 6.01
  • µVision Version 2.05

QUESTION

I have found several problems with the µVision debugger.

  1. My program uses bank switching with two code banks above 5000h. Everything below that is common code. I step through the program and step into a common code function from a banked function. When I step out of the common function to return to the banked code, the debugger gets lost. The code window shows an address like B00:0x9000 prior to the call to the COMMON function. Upon return, it shows C:0x9003 with all NOP instructions. I also get memory violation errors.
  2. The SECS display in the Regs window stays at 0 and does not update.

RESOLUTION

These problems have been corrected. Download and install C51 version 6.10 or later. You may download the latest updates from the Keil Website.
