µVISION: POINTER WATCH PROBLEM IN DEBUGGER

Information in this article applies to:

  • POINTER WATCH PROBLEM IN µVision2 DEBUGGER
  • C51 Version 6.01
  • µVision Version 2.05

QUESTION

If I only define one pointer (for example: unsigned char xdata * ptr) in my program, the debugger just uses DPTR for this pointer. If I set up a watch for this pointer: ws ptr, this ptr shows as value X:0x0000 and can not be monitored correctly via the Watch Window. If I make it global, then it works...but adds a ton of extra code in the process.

RESOLUTION

This problem has been corrected. Download and install C51 version 6.10 or later. You may download the latest updates from the Keil Website.
