C51: V6.0 INSTALLATION PROBLEMS WITH CD-ROM RELEASE 12.99

SYMPTOMS

I'm having a lot of problems installing my tools from the 12.99 CD-ROM Release. Specifically, I receive the following linker error when I link.

Fatal Error 250 Code Size Limit in Restricted Version

I have the real tools and I entered my serial number when requested by the SETUP program, but I still get this error. Can you help me with this?

CAUSE

A very few 8051 compilers were released with invalid serial numbers. You may be affected if your 8051 tools have a serial number that appears as XXXXX-YYYYY-ZZZZZ. Invalid serial numbers start with A5..., C5..., D5..., or K5...

This problem affected only about 20 users who purchased after December 20, 1999.

RESOLUTION

Contact our technical support department and request a new serial number. Refer to this article when making your request.
