µVISION: IMPORTING A µVISION V1 PROJECT INTO µVISION V2.04 & LATER

Information in this article applies to:

  • C166 Version 4.04
  • C51 Version 6.00

QUESTION

I need to import my old µVision V1 project files into µVision V2 or µVision3. How do I do it?

ANSWER

You must have µVision Version 2.02 or later to import a µVision V1 project file. In µVision Version 2.04 or later, follow these steps to import a µVision V1 project file:

  1. Select Import µVision V1 Project... on the Project menu to select and import an old project file.
  2. Create a new project and close any open projects.
  3. After you enter the new project file name, select the device for the target that will be created. Select the desired device from the device database. If you don't know just yet, you may select a generic device from the Generic folder. Generic devices are available for 8051 and C166 derivatives.
  4. After the device is selected, µVision prompts you to select the old project file. Then µVision imports the project file data from the µVision V1 project file.

Once you have imported a project file from a previous software release, you should check the target (assembler, compiler, and linker) options to verify they are correct.
