BL51: Linker Ordering Segments by Size

QUESTION

I have upgraded to version 5.50 of the toolset and I have noticed that the order the linker sorts the segments is based on size when it locates them in memory. Is there an option to turn this sorting off?

ANSWER

Yes. You can specify the linker NOSORTSIZE directive (abbreviation NOSO). The linker then locates the segments in memory using the same method as BL51 version 3.5.

Note that sorting the segments by size typically reduces the number of code gaps due to block/page alignments in an application.

You may specify the directive in one of the boxes under the Additional tab in the BL51 Code Banking Linker Options in µVision.
