Keil add Evatronix 8051XC support to PK51

Plano, TX: Keil and Evatronix S.A, the silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider, today announced the enhancement of the Keil™ PK51™ 8051 Professional Developer's Kit with extensive support for the Evatronix high-speed configurable 8-bit R8051XC microcontroller core.

The Keil PK51 C compiler now supports R8051XC features such as optional 16-bit multiplication/division unit or multiple data pointers, the number of which may be configured (single, 1, 2 or 4 pairs) according to target application.

The complete device simulation capabilities of the PK51 kit fully reflect the R8051XC instruction timing as well as the behavior of the rich configurable set of R8051XC peripheral devices (including I2C and SPI controllers). Device simulation enables programmers to develop their code, debug it and verify it with the uVision debugger before the actual hardware is available and still can precisely estimate the achievable performance

The R8051XC microcontroller core can be integrated into the On Chip Debug Support unit. This OCDS unit is interfaced to the Keil µVision debugger with a hardware box named the Evatronix Debug Puck (EDP) and a software plug-in called the Evatronix Debug Interface version 2.0 (EDIk51-2, for Keil PK51 tools). The EDP interacts with a host PC over a USB channel and directly drives the JTAG interface to the R8051XC processor core embedded in a target system.

The Evatronix R8051XC with the modified Keil PK51 Professional Developer's Kit will be presented at the Evatronix stand (Hall A5 Stand 331) during Electronica 2006. The R801XC microcontroller core will be the subject of a free seminar on System-on-Chip engineering, organized daily at the Evatronix stand. Availablility

The demo package for the PK51 Professional Developer's Kit is available for download free at www.keil.com. With the updated toolset, users can compare the efficiency of the R8051XC software simulator with that of a typical 80C51 processor.

The R8051XC configurable microcontroller core is delivered either as Verilog or VHDL source code with HDL verification environment, simulation and synthesis support scripts to verify and implement the processor for ASIC or FPGA implementation. For evaluation purposes, Evatronix also provides netlists for selected FPGA families, together with evaluation boards.
