Press Release16 Feb 2005 µVision Now Interfaces to MATLAB/Simulink Plano, TX: Keil Software is pleased to announce a partnership with Adapted Solutions, developers of the PONTiFLEX interface to MATLAB/Simulink. Adapted Solutions has in-depth knowledge of system modeling and has created the PONTiFLEX interface between the Keil µVision Debugger and MATLAB/Simulink. "The PONTiFLEX interface uses the outstanding device simulation features capabilities of the Keil µVision Debugger to provide exact modeling of complex microcontroller systems.", said Dr. Thomas Barucki, founder of Adapted Solutions. "The µVision simulation enables complete Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) tests that interact with simulated hardware and allows in-depth analysis of software algorithms which is essential for the design of complex embedded systems. Unlike Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test systems, µVision does not require the real-time capability of external simulation models which are essential during the design phase." continued Dr. Barucki. Adapted Solutions provides a detailed Application Note that demonstrates the PONTiFLEX MATLAB/Simulink interface to µVision. The Application Note includes a software example that demonstrates system simulation of a DC drive controller. A microcontroller application generates a PWM signal used by a DC chopper circuit and that is simulated in µVision. The behavior of the DC driver including its mechanical load is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink. The MATLAB/Simulink model gets the PWM signal from the µVision Debugger/Simulator using the PONTiFLEX simulation interface. The Application Note shows how microcontroller code running in the µVision Debugger/Simulator is verified against a MATLAB/Simulink model. Developers can now test not only the proper software coding but also verify the algorithm implementation and determine correct parameters for the software algorithm at the simulator level. About Adapted SolutionsAdapted Solutions was founded by Marko Schmidt and Dr. Thomas Barucki to focus on the development and application of innovative simulation software. The founders have worked at the Technical University in Dresden (Germany) and at SIMEC/ANSOFT in the SIMPLORER® development team.
