If anyone could help with this, I would be greatly thankful.
We suggest that you do a new install. MDK 4.5 has been released for a while and it has some problems but it normally does not crash your system.
Usually a bad install comes from the user attempting to copy or move some of the tools to locations other than the installed locations.
Again we suggest a new install and accept the defaults during the install.
The second suggestion is to contact your Keil vendor or representative for additional assistance. Remember this forum in not always monitored by the Keil staff, just users like you and me.

Thanks, Al.
Do you perhaps know if my license will be in danger of becoming void if I re-install the product? We had some issues in the past that took Keil (and Arrow) weeks to resolve, and I'd rather not go down that path again. Is there a specific way I should re-install?
Keil has worked bugs in SARM.dll and SARMCM3.dll for MDK 4.50 in response to a complaint of it crashing on simulation entry. 4.50 still has some problems with previously functional sim scripts ... this has at least sent to engineering for evaluation. It seems they made several IDE changes in this version.

You are in no danger of losing your license as long as you do not change the computer that held your original license. If in doubt, you can release the license, do a re-install and then re-license. Remember that you can install on a desktop and install on your laptop or other computer.
Contact your Keil Rep if you have additional license questions.
