In the manual for the Infineon JTAG driver (UL2OCDS.chm) there is a description how to reinstall the ULINK drivers in a different way. Reinstall the ULINK USB Driver 1) Login to your computer as an administrator. This is required to make registry changes on Windows 2000/XP. 2) Delete all *.INF files containing USB\VID_c251. 2a) Use Start - Search - For Files or Folders. Specify *.INF as the file name, VID_C251 as the search text, and the base folder of your operating system as the search location (typically, this is C:\WINNT\ for Windows 2000 and XP or C:\WINDOWS\ for Windows 98 and ME computers. 2b) Start Search should present a list of INF files (like KeilUL.INF and and OEM4.INF). Delete these files. 2c) Windows 2000 and XP create precompiled setup information files that have the same name but with a *.PNF extension (like KeilUL.PNF and OEM4.PNF). You must delete these files, also. 3) Delete KeilUL.SYS and KeilUL0.SYS from the C:\WINNT\System32\Drivers or C:\WINNT\System32\Drivers folder. 4) On Windows 2000 and XP use RegEdt32 to remove all registry entries with USB Vid_c251. 4a) Run RegEdt32 (not RegEdit) from the start menu. 4b) Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USB. 4c)Delete the folder with Vid_251. You may need to change access rights under Security - Permissions to do that. 5) Reboot your computer. 6) Update the Keil PK166 software. Now the Keil ULINK Adapter drivers are completely uninstalled. If you plug in the Keil ULINK again the Windows computer will show a Detect New Hardware. If this message is followed by the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog select: - Install Hardware Device Drivers - Search for a suitable driver for my device. - Locate Driver Files - Specify a location. Select the file KeilUL.INF for the Keil ULINK Adapter. This file can be found on a Keil Development Tools CD-ROM in the folder Keil\Setup\Driver\Drivers. Hope this helps
Thanks for the above reply, I've gone through that. When i get to: - Locate Driver Files - Specify a location. Select the file KeilUL.INF for the Keil ULINK Adapter. This file can be found on a Keil Development Tools CD-ROM in the folder Keil\Setup\Driver\Drivers. I do locate it, select it, and still get the message: This Driver is not sutied for this device. (i've tried it even with the drivers I've optained from this site the inf.) Thanks for your help. I did get mine to work on another computer similar setup to mine, not sure why it works on system but not another.
It's a problem only with Windows XP with Service Pack 2. ULINK functional with Windows XP without Servicepack.
This seems to be a problem with the .inf-File (timestamp 20021108). I've had the same problem with the ULINK on a PC using W2k SP4 (no problems with a XP SP2-PC used for testing). Even bought an additional PCI-USB-Card for tests. After patching the .inf-File the ULINK has been detected when connected to an onboard USB1.1 or one of the extension card's USB2.0-connectors.
how do you patch the inf file ? I just checked all the inf files and are all the same date you mentioned :(
You need to have following files on your computer: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\KeilUL.SYS C:\Windows\inf\KeilUL.INF These files are typically installed already by the Keil SETUP program. When you then proceed as explained in: http://www.keil.com/support/docs/2937.htm it should work OK. If it fails, you should make sure that you have administration rights on your computer and that your system is using the standard Windows folder structure. Reinhard
