Hello!
I'm using the Keil uvision 5 software to program my 8051 in assembly language. Whenver I try to upload a file (Be it the .asm file or just creating a new project!), things stop working and it says its not responding. What might be the problem? Is it just my computer or the software? Please help me out.

What "8051" are we talking about, how are it and your board connected?
It's Atmel's. The controller is connected through a cable from the kit board.

Sounds like they have only made a single processor, and lended that single processor to you.
Don't you think you can specify a bit more information about what processr, board etc you are using than "it's Atmel's"?
Yes. That's a complete kit. I don't have it with me right. It's in my college. Can't I just write the program and run it to check for errors at home without the kit?
