Is there any evaluation version of the Keil compiler that I can try?

Have you looked on the manufacturer's website for application notes, examples, evaluation/development boards, etc?
Go to the 'Products' page on this site for evaluation downloads - and be sure to read the limitations carefully. You will also find serial comms examples in the downloads section here.
