to interface digital camera with matlab

i m a student of engineering working on a project in matlab on "hand geometry" using image processing toolbox. please help to connect my digital camera sony erricson-w110 to interface with the matlab so that i can have continuous display on my screen and send a capture command from the matlab to the camera. i m using a pic 16f877a controller and rs323 for serial transmission.
