Read-Only Author Ted Dubroff Posted 18-Dec-2000 14:49 GMT Toolset C51 | Looking for a good 8051 microcontroller. Ted Dubroff I've been planning on using the DS87C520 microcontroller. I really like this chip. Its got 1024 bytes of on-chip XDATA RAM and 16KB or on-chip CODE EPROM. However, I'm running out of room. Does anyone know of another chip that has the 1024 bytes of XDATA but has more than 16KB of EPROM?? | | Read-Only Author Dan Henry Posted 18-Dec-2000 15:55 GMT Toolset C51 | RE: Looking for a good 8051 microcontroller. Dan Henry Probably not as fast as the Dallas part, but Philips has a few that might fit the bill with 1K RAM. To start, the '558 has 32K ROM and the 'C51RD+ has 64K flash.

These have 32K and 64K flash, and 512 and 1024 bytes of ram respectively. They are also reduced cycle chips i.e. they use 6 clock cycles per machine cycle rather than 12 clocks. They will not be as fast as the Dallas 520, even then though. | |
