I have a simple question regarding the download file limit on STR912FAW44 which has internal 512Kb flash memory. After compiling the C code using Keil MDK, two download files are generated. One is xxx.axf, another is xxx.hex. The xxx.hex file will be downloaded into STR912FAW. The xxx.axf is approching to 512Kb while the xxx.hex is 460Kb. I wonder if I can add more C code. Although the generated xxx.axf is more than 512Kb, xxx.hex is less than 512Kb. Anyone has the experiences with that? Greatly appreciate any info.

The file sizes are irrelevant. You aren't even close to the 512kB code limit yet.
The hex file is more than twice larger than the actual binary it stores, since it stores each binary byte as two hex characters.
And the axf file is very much larger too, since it contains debug information.
The only true measure of code size is what you get from the map file, and somewhat summarized in the output window after the linking step is done.
Note that you may have to open your project and turn on the generation of map files, if you want to be able to get the full picture.
