Hi frnds....I am using a ADuc831 controller, power supply - OK, oscillator - OK , still i am not able to get any response through UART. wat might be the problem...any idea????
Have you downloaded an application to ADuC's flash?
No, this is a fresh microcontroller , not programmed yet. I am not able to access it through UART. can u plz tell wat check inorder to make sure uC is alive..?
Have you tried powering the unit on?
See www.analog.com/.../ADUC831.pdf page 63, In-Circuit Serial Download Access I hope that helps
yes i tried to power on the unit..all the connections are ok., no short ckt of any kind... the reset pin by default is pulled low, i hope it is not a problem ??
yes, this is exactly how i am trying to program it, but ass soon as we pull the PSEN pin low, it should communicate with the hyper terminal. But it doesn't...thats wat the problem.
is there some sure method to check whether controller is alive or not ?
PSEN should be help low during power up or hard reset to enable the bootloader.
You should then be able to interrogate the bootloader to see if the processor is up.
Check out Analog Devices Application note AN-1074 for bootloader details.
I couldn't get the HEX file to downlaod to the ADuC831 either with the new Windows Serial Downloader. Everything worked fine when I downgraded to WSD version 6.7 get it here: ftp.analog.com/.../ Hope this helps.
