 getting some error in keil while building

HI every one,

I am getting an error MISSING DEVICE ( SECURITY KEY NOT FOUND ) what should i do.

 (SECURITY KEY NOT FOUND) what should i do?

You should, obviously, find the SECURITY KEY (aka "dongle") - and properly connect it!

I think while building i should not get this error , while downloading the hex file to controller i should get error for dongle ..

I think you are thinking the wrong thing for unthinkable reasons.

I think it's the build process that is worth money, and worth protecting with a dongle.

I think that downloading a hex file has a low value, and that there are a lot of free programs available supporting download to different processors.

Do you still think it's the download that requires the dongle?

Maybe you are thinking of the wrong "dongle"?

The SECURITY KEY mentioned in the error message is the device that controls your use of the licensed Keil build tools & debugger - it is not referring to any download adaptor that you may be using...

BTW: do Keil still use hardware keys to control licensing? Or are you using an old version?

Note that the Keil LPT-port Security Key ("dongle") does not necessarily play nicely with other devices also connected on the same port.

:-(

So, if you are using a download adaptor (or anything else) on the same parallel port as your Keil "dongle", that may cause issues...
