I am using ARM7TDMI on lpc2378 ic of phillips. Can anyone please tell me how to program the kit. Is JTAG necessary for burning a code on the kit? Can i use Kiel to compile the code?

Keil's list of supported devices will tell you if Keil supports it.
Whether or not you are able to use it is another question entirely...

The 2378 can be programmed using the serial port. It will then be up to you to add a debug agent into the processor if you want to dump information. But from the user manual for the processor you should already know this.

LPC all micro-controllers comes through nxp. So download flash magic software from net and install that one. Using serial cable you can dump your code with the help of fialsh magic.
