Freescale Technology Forum

San Antonio, TX USA — Jun 18, 2012

Visit ARM® and Keil at the Freescale Technology Forum, held in San Antonio, Texas. This event will be packed with technical design seminars and technology exhibits. ARM will be showing the ARM Development Studio 5 (DS-5) with support for all ARM processor-based Freescale devices such as Kinetis, Vybrid and i.MX platforms.

For the Keil product line we are showing the latest edition of the Keil MDK-ARM Development Kit on the Kinetis family of devices, including the new ARM Cortex-M0+ processor-based Freescale Kinetis L series MCUs to be unveiled at the event.

The DS-5 toolchain adds advanced debugging and performance analysis features that reduce your learning curve, shorten the development and testing cycles, and helps you build reliable applications quickly. The DS-5 toolchain has out-of-the-box support for many of the ARM processor-based devices from Freescale. At the show we will be demonstrating DS-5 on Freescale platforms such as Kinetis, Vybrid and i.MX6 with examples of Streamline Performance Analyzer.

The Keil product family provides developers with a low-cost tool suite. Especially when designing with the new Freescale Kinetis L Cortex-M0+ processor-based devices, Keil MDK-ARM Development Kit provides a complete development solution with integrated support for the MQX Real-time operating system, and a rich set of examples to get you started quickly.

As part of the training sessions at the event, ARM will present the advanced debug capabilities of ARM tools that take advantage of the ARM CoreSight technology that delivers best-in-class real-time debug, performance analysis, and code coverage solutions for embedded applications.

ARM: Preview of Vybrid an ARM Coretx-A5 and Cortex-M4 based system using ARM Fast Models and Development Studio 5 (DS-5)

By nature, embedded systems are heterogeneous, often varying in shape and size and containing many different processing elements. Unique with the new Vybrid family from Freescale is the combination of the new ARM Cortex™ -A5 with the ARM Cortex-M4. The need to balance battery life with “always available, always connected” use - is driving both complexity and innovation. This pursuit has led to the creation of DS-5 development tools that make ARM Linux software development easier and more efficient extending tool functionality and improving usability. This intermediate-level training session will feature live demos of the DS-5 debug and performance analysis tools and is ideal for designers who are familiar with ARM processors and Linux development and are eager to learn more about the DS-5 tool chain and how it applies to the new Vybrid family from Freescale.

ARM: Using ARM Development Studio 5 (DS-5) with i.MX6 Based Linux and Android Targets

Multicore devices like the Freescale i.MX6 are becoming a common requirement for many embedded designs today. However, software development for a multicore system is not always straightforward. It can sometimes be confusing as to why certain applications are not seeing the expected increase in performance on a multi-core system. As a leader in multi-core technology ARM has developed Development Studio 5 (DS-5™). DS-5 builds on system trace points, hardware and software performance counters, sample-based profiling, and user annotations to offer a powerful and flexible system analysis environment for software optimization. This intermediate-level training session will feature live demos of the DS-5 debug and performance analysis tools and is ideal for designers who are familiar with ARM processors and Linux development and are eager to learn more about the DS-5 tool chain.
